Keziah Korah: The Founder of Lynkk
As kids, when we were asked what we wanted to become, most of us had different answers. But those answers mostly change as we grow up. But then I met Keziah, who from a very young age was sure that she wanted to run a business and be her own boss!
Keziah Korah currently runs a startup that aims to mitigate toxic work and client culture in India. She was born and brought up in Bangalore and did her undergrad in Economics from the US. During this time she always knew she had flair for entrepreneurship.!
How it all started?
Keziah had initially planned to take over her family business once she returned from the US. But fortunately for Keziah, that didn’t work out well. She couldn’t handle not being given a voice, despite her previous successes. She had her ideas, her visions, and her goals.
Simultaneously, Keziah was working part-time as Linkedin Marketer for a family friend and that was going surprisingly well. With her help, Keziah realized this could be a potential business and she found herself busy with a handful of clients. Suddenly she was the Linkedin expert that everyone was seeking out.
To start a business was always in her mind. But this unplanned course of events made her decide what to do; A company that helps individuals and businesses increase their growth via LinkedIn. But it didn’t stop here. She wanted to eliminate the toxicity she found while working in this field.
During her journey with Lynkk, she found that a lot of marketing agencies work inefficiently with poor planning and organizational skills. This leads to employees being overworked and having a poor work-life balance.
In addition to it, you also find clients who don’t respect the employee's space and time. They feel they are entitled to call for assistance at odd times just because they pay their expenses. Keziah wants to put an end to this toxic work & client culture and improve agency life. And that’s what her upcoming product is aimed at!
Founder Life
Being a young founder, Keziah is focused on delivering customer happiness and success with an equally enthusiastic team. Their office is located in Bangalore and they choose to work from home or WeWork according to their convenience.
The next big step for Lynkk is to launch a tech product that helps in improving the work culture in India. At present, most of Keziah’s time is dedicated to the research and planning for their upcoming product. She also regularly checks in with the team to see if they are on the right track. And implementing feedback sessions helped improve the team spirit and productivity.
Keziah has always worked well when she had the freedom and independence to do things. She says she works best when there is nobody snooping over her shoulders. So leading a team has been perfect for her!
Everyday Challenges
As a woman founder, Keziah feels, there are a lot of challenges that she comes across. It takes double the efforts to make her voice heard. Even when she tried taking over the family business, it took her a lot of effort to get approval on any of her suggestions or ideas, which isn’t the case internally at Lynkk. And even after being a founder she sometimes feels that people consider the fact that she is a woman or her young age more than the fact that she is a LinkedIn expert.
The sad part is that she sometimes has to ask her male colleagues to attend to the clients just because it works smoothly that way. Even though she feels bad about it, she has found her way. Hire a person to speak what she wants to and get the business. Later, she knows that it was her idea that actually worked. :)
Let nothing stop you from being what you want to be
They say your network is your net worth and she couldn’t agree more. Her friends and mentors that have been supportive in her endeavours have contributed to her success.
